A Regency Anthology -
The Thief – On a lark, Constance Archer wagers with Lord Blackhazel that one of them will be betrothed before the Season ended. A wager she now hates. At the same time, she reluctantly sets out to assist her brother with affairs of the heart, although he is the last person people would describe as lonely. When a family heirloom goes missing, people are thrown together in a search for its recovery. Is the necklace the only thing that is lost, or will hearts be lost as well?
A Gift Unsought – The chance Alethea had waited for all her life arrived when the whole household turned out in best uniforms to welcome the Marquess and Marchioness of Holmwood and their son, the Earl of Payton to Harper Hall. But Alethea was out of uniform for the first time since entering service. She stood proudly in one of Lady Johanna’s cast-off mourning dresses, deliciously bareheaded. No cap, kerchief or apron for Alethea today!
A Wild Blooded Christmas With Fangs – Lady Annette Louvel returns to the earl of Ardmoor's home, bringing five unexpected and rather peculiar guests, as well as a heart mending from a rejection one year ago. More unexpected guests arrive, and with it, the possibility of a miracle and love.
The Devil With Green Eyes – A bump on the head leaves Julia with no memory except her first name. She wakes up cold, alone and frightened, until she finds her way to the estate of the fierce Lord James Moore. James has cut himself off from society following the death of his wife, even though the one year mourning period has long since come and gone. Julia helps James rediscover love. When she regains her memory and makes plans to return home, he has to decide if opening himself up to the risk of pain is worth losing his soul a second time.
Barbary Coast Affair - Alexander Haines has a mission—recapture the USS Philadelphia from Barbary Coast pirates. Coddling a pampered daughter of an English earl has no part in that mission. Not, that is, until Katherine Alcott becomes a hostage.

This is a great collection of Regency short stories. I enjoyed the quick romantic reads--perfect for squeezing in on a lunch break. My favorite story is The Devil With Green Eyes by Gail Katz. I like how the author portrayed Julia as strong even when at her most vulnerable and James was a deliciously brooding but always honorable hero.Product details

I loved this collection of short stories so much. Each brought something different that made for a very enjoyable read. All of these stories are also clean romances so if hot and heavy isn’t your thing, this is the perfect collection for you.
The Thief
This was a fun friends to lovers story. Constance and Blackhazel have been friends since childhood and therefore have completely missed what was right in front of their eyes. Through a series of funny and unexpected circumstances they finally realized that the reason they haven’t been able to form an attachment to anyone else is because they have been attached to each other all along.
A Gift Unsought
This was one of my favorite stories in this collection. We don’t often get romances from the perspective of the servants. I really enjoyed it. Alethea has just been promoted to Abigail and is eager to do a great job and one day be a housekeeper. Pierce is the valet for the Marquess of Holmwood and as such has frequent interaction with Alethea who is acting as Abigail to the Marchioness. Pierce makes his affections know very early on in their acquaintance and now Alethea must decide what is most important to her. But does she really have to choose?
A Wild Blooded Christmas With Fangs
This is the only paranormal in the collection and I was looking forward to it. However, having not read any of this author’s other work, I felt like I was missing out on some back story that would have made it more enjoyable. There was also a regrettable repetitiousness about it that kind of put me off.
The Devil With Green Eyes
This was a great take on the amnesia trope, which is not one I usually enjoy. I absolutely loved Julia and James. Everything about their story was poignant and very well done, especially for such a short story. Julia has fallen and lost her memory. She finds herself in the home of Lord James Moore. Begrudgingly he agrees to shelter her for the night, but after she falls ill they are forced into company for several days. Moore is still grieving for his deceased wife and wants Julia gone as soon as possible, at least at first. Julia finally regains her memory, which was a brilliant plot twist, and must decide where to go from here.
Barbary Coast Affair
Alex is a former pirate tasked with helping Britain solve the Barbary Coast pirate problem. Katherine is a baron and Royal Navy officer’s daughter who is expected to introduce Alex into society and help him fit in. This goes as you would expect but along the way we find Katherine isn’t as proper as she appears either. The banter between the two was fun and even though Katherine acts foolishly on more than one occasion you cannot help but root for these two to get together. There was lots of action and adventure in this one which sets it apart from the others.
The collection on the whole was great. It is well worth the price and is a great read for the beach, lunch breaks, or just a lazy weekend at home.
*I was provided an ARC of this book in exchange for an HONEST review
